On your African volunteer gap exchange adventure in South Africa there is a affordable voluntary destination at Cher-a-Don (Lalapanzi) Adventure Centre working and helping at the adventure centre with the equine assisted therapy, adventure activities, community service or just a compassionate helper, talking and motivating the camp participants. Many of our camps are youth that are in trouble with the law, at risk kids or orphans. Looking at volunteering teaching English to underprivileged children in Africa? At Cher-a-Don (Lalapanzi) you get to teach life skills, work outside motivating and encouraging the individuals, changing life's and making a difference to a community one person at a time and get to teach English too.

A very high percentage of the participants at camp are from underprivileged backgrounds and have been sent to us as part of a diversion and social development. These kids require personal attention and often just someone who cares, you can make a difference on your gap experience. Although it is hard work and long hours your companion and time will help us help them. We need the extra pair of hands, eyes and ears to reach each child and make a impact on all on camp. When we don't have booking we need to repair and make more activities, your help here would be greatly appreciated by many. Not all camps are for rehabilitation, some are leadership school outings where you will get to meet some of the Eastern Cape's top students from the schools in the area or church groups, either way you will meet some incredible South Africans from a diverse backgrounds and social standing.

This is not a free holiday, you pay a small fee to enjoy our privileged life, learn from our horsemanship techniques, gain equestrian experience, abseil and help someone less fortunate.
